CMA AAMA: Medical Assistant Program Overview at CSC
Clark State College offers a highly-regarded, accredited Medical Assisting Certificate program, designed to prepare students for rewarding entry-level clinical and administrative roles in local health practitioners’ offices throughout the Springfield – Leffel Lane and Xenia areas.
Program Structure
This intensive program requires 40 total credit hours and is designed to provide competency in the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to enter the profession. The certificate can typically be completed in one year, and credits earned can be fully applied toward the Medical Assisting Associate Degree if you wish to continue your education.
Curriculum and Clinical Experience
The curriculum spans fall, spring, and summer semesters, covering essential topics such as:
- Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology
- Medical Terminology
- Phlebotomy
- Pharmacology for the Medical Office
Hands-on training culminates in 200 hours of unpaid, supervised Directed Practice clinical experience during the final summer semester. Prospective students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA across the curriculum and should note that they will be billed for liability insurance for clinical courses.
