Located conveniently at One Armory Square in Springfield, this intensive one-year, 29-credit certificate prepares you for immediate entry-level employment in various ambulatory settings, like physicians’ offices and clinics across the Greater Springfield area.
Curriculum and Practical Experience
The robust curriculum covers essential administrative and clinical skills. Key courses include:
- Introduction to Medical Assisting
- Pharmacology
- Venipuncture/Phlebotomy
- Human Body in Health and Disease
A crucial component is the mandatory, supervised 160-hour externship, which runs for five weeks (40 hours a week) from late May through the end of June, providing practical experience in the field.
